Bookbinding was not something on my artistic radar until I heard about Dolph Smith’s classes at Memphis College of Art. He was one of the most patient, generous teachers I encountered and his love of books, paper making and story telling inspired a lot of us along the way. I still dabble at making books and find the medium versatile and forgiving. I suppose there are as many ways to make a book as there are books.
